Jamie Gallagher is a painter, as well as husband, dad, entrepreneurial creative director and coffee addict. He also lives down the road from us in Somerset.
Like most of us, he's not JUST a painter. Jamie runs design studio Hello. He founded Werkhouse, a free scheme where creative industry top johnnies help budding young creatives a route into the industry. He also create cycling/coffee brand Paniagua, which is how we connected. Plus, on Fridays he spends the day in his studio, making beautiful things, usually with oils. PHEW.
The first time I (hello, it's Nick) met Jamie, we talked so long and so intensely, we forgot to eat and fried ourselves. I walked out of the bar we were in, a wreck, my mind full of ideas, a mouth aching from jabbering and zero sugar in my blood.
Which is a great and lovely thing. Exactly what FRAHM is all about.
As we talked about life, loss, creativity and bikes, I found he was painter too. I had to look. It's always scary looking at someone's work in front of them. Art is so subjective. What if I wasn't into it? The old dilemma. I'm a terrible faker. But I really REALLY love what he's doing. I'm a portrait and Francis Bacon obsessive and a huge fan of oils and intense colours. Without wanting to get too pretentious, but I'm going to anyway, looking at these is like a mainline to my soul. So yea, like. Love.
His work is online here: Jamie Gallagher. For a taste, see below...
What do you think? Love them as much as we do? Do comment below. You don't have to like it, but you do have to be polite. Obviously.
I wasn't going to do events. I expected nothing from a tiny stall.
It was our best day ever.
A mildly amusing, potentially inspiring look at imagination.
WARNING: Contains Norway.
FRAHM jackets are cut casual, for movement. We've subtly altered classic tailoring for more room in the shoulders and longer arms. Our jackets do not have a restrictive 'fashion' cut.
Our best guide to size is your favourite existing jacket or suit jacket. Look for the inches or CM, not the "medium" or "large", as these definitions differ wildly between brands.
If you don't know your size, wrap a tape measure around the widest part of your chest and shoulders (no tensing), underneath your armpits.
If you have a really muscular or chunky build, or want to wear heavy layers (like thick jumpers) under your jacket, we recommend you go for the size up.
"Long" sizes for particularly tall men offer exactly the same jacket, with significantly longer arms and torso.
If you have any questions or concern you are an unusual fit, email the designer Nick on email@example.com and he will discuss sizing with your personally.
CHRIS: Size Medium. 39" chest. 5'9". 76kg. Slim, athletic physique.
NICK: Size Large. 42" chest. 5'11". 88kg. Chunky, muscular physique.
