Our customers rave about our fit, check out the reviews.

FRAHM jackets are cut for real men's bodies and action. We've subtly altered classic tailoring for more movement, for real life. Our jackets do not have a restrictive teenage 'fashion' cut.

Size by your actual body measurements, not copying your size in another brand. Fit can vary wildly between brands and their size may not be ours.

If you can't measure your chest circumference, the best guide to size is your best fitting existing jacket or suit jacket. Then Live Chat us and we can advise what your size is. We are experienced fitters.

"Tall" sizes are for very tall men, offering exactly the same jacket with significantly longer arms and torso. Don't buy one if you're above average - our standard sizes will fit.

If you have shorter arms, we will happily have your sleeves altered for you when possible (most of the time it is). Please Live Chat or email us to discuss.

Due to unprecedented interest the Ventile Thermal sold out entirely via pre-order earlier in 2020. Pre orders arriving on October 4th 2021 are now open. As we make a limited number each year, we expect all 2021 orders to sell well in advance. Please purchase as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Nick’s Design Notes:  I wanted to make the best thermal jacket in the world, in both style, detail & performance. My dream design. That means it needs to be waterproof, smart and quiet. So I used the best natural materials and tailored military design.

READ DESIGN DETAIL & THERMAL JACKETS COMPARISON BLOG

The FRAHM Ventile Thermal Field Jacket is the best of our best. Ventile, a British military classic fabric used in pilot submersion suits is the outer, with a beautiful temperature-regulating wool lining. These are nature’s performance materials. We’ve added a highly efficient layer of recycled polyester insulation to the sandwich of wool and waterproof cotton, which dries fast and means the jacket is machine washable.

We’ve used super tough YKK Aquaguard waterproof zips at the front, cuffs and hips, for adjustability and maximum comfort. As with our fabled Utility Field Jacket, there’s a lot of heavyweight storage - the cargo pockets are actually even bigger. The waist is cord adjustable and there’s more comfort on articulated pleating and an ‘action back’ for full range of movement in freezing temperatures.

Use in cold to sub zero weather, in high winds, snow or heavy rain. With a single layer the temperature range is 0c to +12c, or down to -6c with mid-layers. The cut is tailored, but the fit is forgiving and can accommodate a thick jumper.

Technical notes:

  • Please note, the Royal Cobalt Blue colour option has white zips
  • Fully waterproof 100% cotton Ventile outer, fully taped seams
  • Freudenberg recycled polyester insulation
  • New wool quilted lining & front placket (zip cover) lining
  • Ultra high grade military snaps from Cobrax
  • Black YKK Aquaguard waterproof zips at cuffs and hips for adjustability and comfort
  • Black YKK Aquaguard waterproof 2-way zip at front
  • YKK zipped chest pocket to fit large smart phone
  • Action back shoulders allow wide range of movement
  • Longer cut, to below hips, for greater coverage
  • Sleek 100% cotton moleskin lined hand pockets and neck lining
  • Custom hardened stainless steel gunmetal finish Italian pocket snaps
  • Cord adjustment at waist with stainless steel barrel adjusters
  • Bellows cargo pockets for greater stowage capacity
  • Reinforced elbow and shoulder patches
  • Lifetime fault guarantee
  • Machine washable, gentle cycle

FRAHM always gives £10 to Mind, the mental health charity, for every jacket sold.

Perhaps the best one yet

I spent and entire winter wearing this jacket and still am at every opportunity.

The first impressions were that this jacket is awesome!! The quilted lining and the lining of the sleeves are great. I wore this in some serious rain and stayed dry throughout. I was somewhat sceptical having not had a ventile jacket before but it was great.

The fit is really good and it is very breathable which is great when out walking. My only niggle is bobbling around the lower of the jacket from the walking action- I would expect this over time but not after a couple of months. Is it enough to drop a star? Maybe maybe not but this is an awesome jacket which can be worn in different conditions.

P.s. The orange is awesome

Ventile thermal field jacket

Great team who guided me through the entire process. The experience was then made even better upon delivery (which was next day) when I open the box and experienced the coat in person. Excellent build quality, fit and warmth have all exceeded my already high expectations. If you’re like me and are doubting investing in this brand and the garments.... believe in yourself and choose Frahm, you won’t be disappointed.
Thank you to the Frahm team. Awesome job

A tale of one jacket

Even the box shone brightly, which is praise indeed given it was something that wasn’t technically illuminated.

Once past the sublime and quite neat packaging scenario (so delightful that moving photography was deployed to capture the moment) the jacket came into view. And, in my mind at least, a chorus of angels sung something in Latin to a reasonably sized orchestra in a major key.

I carefully removed the jacket from said box, immediately noticing the tactility of the fabric as my finger tips intuitively searched for the hint of a nap.. I was bombarded by a flotilla of pockets which sprung up in every direction I looked. Within the first half a minute of scanning this marvellous outdoor garment I must have spotted at least twenty five to thirty pockets with a variety of sealing mechanisms; press studs, zips and other such marvels.

It was at this point I became somewhat dizzy and overwhelmed, perhaps by the swell of complex emotions my mind was trying to process. “Got to get outside, try the jacket, let it hold you whilst you gulp in the cold Winter night air. Go, do it now man!” I told myself, using my mind as a silent voice.

And it did hold me. Like a giant glove especially made into the size and shape of an average sized human man. And, in holding me I think it loved me.

I still wear it, even now. Almost two weeks hence.

Delighted with this jacket

I’d never heard of Frahm until I saw a Facebook ad last week and got drawn into the website - great ethos, great blogs and what looked like superb jackets. I’ve been after a decent winter jacket for a while but never found the perfect one and tbh was reluctant to buy unseen. But the reviews convinced me and managed to find a bargain in the archive section of site.

Got confidence from Emmalou on live chat about sizing and jacket was here two days later. Packaging was a treat in itself and exudes quality.

It’s great in Navy - almost black as description says - and fitted perfectly in XL ( I normally go for a Large in most other brands but trusted the detailed guidance)

Sleeves just covered knuckles, cord allowed a slightly tailored fit and the whole thing is just understated quality - no branding on this one at all. Zips and studs feel very premium.

Went for a long walk today in zero degrees and was lovely and snug with only a thin sweater beneath - amazing for such a light jacket.

Really really pleased and already looking at the summer ones.

Thank you!

Amazing jacket - so pleased with it

So pleased I bought this - was a bit nervous about buying without actually seeing it but Nick talked me through the sizing and it fits perfectly… The quality is outstanding - its definitely worth the money.
