4 Seasons Waterproof 2021

Size Guide
Size & Fit Guide

Our customers rave about our fit, check out the reviews.

FRAHM jackets are cut for real men's bodies and action. We've subtly altered classic tailoring for more movement, for real life. Our jackets do not have a restrictive teenage 'fashion' cut.

HOW TO FIT YOURSELF

Size by your actual body measurements, not copying your size in another brand. Fit can vary wildly between brands and their size may not be ours.

HEIGHT: This is the easy one – measure yourself from the top of your head to your heel. (Sometimes easier to do against a wall we find.)

CHEST: To find out your chest size, take a tape measure and wrap it under your armpits at the fullest part of your chest.

ARM: Measure from the shoulder seam to the bony bit on your wrist (yes, that is the biological term).

measurement guide

Next, compare your measurements with our size chart below to see which Frahm jacket is right for you.

size chart

If you can't measure your chest circumference, the best guide to size is your best fitting existing jacket or suit jacket. Then Live Chat us and we can advise what your size is.

"Tall" sizes are for very tall men, offering exactly the same jacket with significantly longer arms and torso. Don't buy one if you're above average - our standard sizes will fit.

If you have shorter arms, we will happily have your sleeves altered for you when possible (most of the time it is). Please Live Chat or email us to discuss.

Nick's Design Notes

I wanted to create a lightweight waterproof that could be a utility outer shell, any time of year. The piece of kit I know is always there when it's needed. I couldn't see examples with clean lines & plenty of pockets. That means street style & wilderness practicality. A jacket I can go out around London in, not just a soggy mountain. Oh, and a banging hood that fits, and stays! Here you go. Enjoy!

What don't packable waterproofs have? Enough pockets. What should they look like? Not like bin bags. Can they we do better than the Big Brands? Well, not wanting to be immodest, but, yes...

At the core of the 4 Seasons Waterproof is a fully sealed, soft, matt-textured 3-layer stretch nylon fabric created for us in North Eastern Italy. Rated 20,000 waterproof & breathable, it has supreme technical performance, but doesn't have that shiny plastic bin bag quality that plagues waterproofs. The inner layer is soft and does not stick to your skin. With a high proportion of elastane, it moves freely, for impromtu break-dancing or bouldering.

The hood is special. A 6-panel construction with a proper storm-peak allows exact shaping around the head, once the front and rear shockcord adjusters are adjusted. This gives the hallowed result of full peripheral vision, with face coverage and a close fit, without looking like Kenny from South Park. It is our pride & joy.

There are concealed, unique vents under the arms, like a shark's gills, that allow warm, moist air out. We have added large cargo pockets and a fully waterproof chest pocket fit for a next-gen phone. Chunky high-strength fully waterproof YKK Aquaguard zips sit alongside Italian stainless steel barrel cordlocks and rare Japanese rubber zip pulls.

Hardcore tech, subtly presented, with all the usual FRAHM features of toughness, utility, adjustability and beautiful detailing.

Use in all weathers as a rain and windproof shell, in high winds, snow, sustained or torrential rain, at high or low temperatures. With a single layer the ideal temperature range is 8c to 22c. As this is a breathable shell these ranges can be exceeded in high temperature/humidity rain or even snow, over heavier layers.

The fit is structured but forgiving, particularly due to it's stretchiness, and can accommodate a thick jumper or multiple layers.

Lovely to wear

Such a great jacket that I look forward to the rain. Packs away well. A bit heavy/ warm for running in (10 def) but excellent for walking over hills and commuting.

4 seasons waterproof jacket

A few weeks ago I ordered the Harrington jacket and was really impressed with the quality that I went back in and looked to get one of the waterproof lightweight jackets. Unfortunately I just missed out on the pre orders and so registered interest for a return.

Fortunately for me, I got an email to say one was available (so that process works!) and I got one of the black and burnt orange designs in medium. I wasn't sure if that fit would be right as the Harrington I have is in large, but this fits very well and there's still room for layers. I'm 5'8", generally slim build but with a "not as toned as it was, slightly rotund stomach".

I love the colours and the design so am very happy with it. My biggest issue with other waterproof jackets is how hot you get in them but this is ventilated and when I went out the other day in warm rain, it did what it says on the tin.

Keep up the good work Nick and co.

Rigour minus Rustle

I’ve loved my Frahm Harrington and denim & check shirts for a few months now, and being a conservationist and outdoors lover (no matter what the weather!), I enjoyed the anticipation of receiving the 4 Seasons jacket.

I had to go up a size from xl to xxl (I have a chest size just below the cusp) to allow for more layers in colder climates to come. But I am sooo impressed by the technical aspects of this jacket. It’s zips and pulls and toggles are tough (but beautiful, as they say), its hood fits wonderfully, having a good range of motion and nicely fitting. The pockets are well placed for use and with a rucksack. And it is supremely waterproof (as my hosepipe test shows!!!). The fabric is lovely smooth and reassuring and the black & orange is refreshing compared to other brands colourways.

Best of all there’s no rustle, which can be torture on a hard mountain trek ⛰ 🥾 Nice work Nick et al 👍🏼💥

Worth the wait/weight

A very lightweight jacket, but a heavyweight in terms of quality. Good material, excellent zips, and cut to provide maximum protection from the elements without adding to the garment’s weight. I should have been an XL according to all the measurements, but ultimately needed an XXL, and Frahm made the exchange process entirely painless. If you have wide shoulders, you may want to consider going a size larger than usual. Just need now some equally good Frahm waterproof trousers to go with the jacket. Recommended.
