What a great waterproof coat. Commuting and in the hills, at home everywhere.
Excellent coat, superb tailoring and great fit- has performed admirably both walking in the Peak District and around town- all in all I’m very impressed 👍
Bought the light coloured mac and I love it.
Quality and design are superb.
Every success to your company.
Spotted this Trench winking at me from the Archive and had been looking for a Mac/Trench that would actually repel rain for a while after finding my previous one was pretty much useless. This was the first Frahm product through the door for me and I was a bit nervous about buying small (always bought medium), but it fits a suit or over shirt/sweater underneath and does exactly what I wanted (keep me dry and looking smart at the same time). I also really like the additional styling detail to stand it apart from A N Other trench and I'm looking forward to wearing it more often when the world returns to whatever the normal will be - pub or office - my dog doesn't like the rain anyway. More kit like this and I'll be a regular!!!
There is a lot of thoughtful design in Frahm's/Nick's jackets and this is now my fourth for the collection having had one of the original utility jackets (how I'd like a waterproof one of those!). Having had the jacket a month now it has been a worn a few times and while it is a lovely piece, I think it will mainly be kept for rainy days in the office worn over a suit. Things I love about this coat are the shape of the hood, which is brilliant (even for my melon of a head) and fits well, the quality of the material, which is tough and matt in finish, and the trademark scalloped sleeves. All brilliant.
There are just two things that aren't quite right for me personally. The lack of any fastening below the waist means that a bit of wind blows the bottom of the coat open to the waist, which isn't great for weather protection and doesn't look great either. Aesthetically I know it might not have been as desirable, but a bottom button would have solved this and made the coat a lot more versatile. And as with a previous coat, the top button is already coming loose and only sewn on with minimal thread so it doesn't feel at all secure and I'll need to break out my sewing kit to sort it. At the neck/collar fastening I think velcro may have been a more practical choice than a button, which is a little more faff. All in all though, it is a beautifully tactile coat and about as good as it gets for wearing on a wet day to the office and out for grabbing lunch with smart casual clothes. As an all rounder for dog walks etc, I don't think it works quite as well, mainly due to the lack of a bottom fastening to prevent it blowing open and you getting a wet crotch!
I've given five stars as I was fortunate to grab this at a great price, because it is a lovely piece of engineering, and because I think it's important to support small independent British companies. It will certainly get worn for work once we are back into the office and for evenings out if there is rain forecast.
