PURE WOOL QUILTED PEACOAT 2026

We've updated our beloved Peacoat to make it even better for Autumn Winter 2026

Last year we launched the Pure Wool Quilted Peacoat and (unexpectedly, considering the uncompromising price) it immediately became our Autumn Winter bestseller.

With a smattering of jackets left for 2025, we're launching 2026 pre-orders already.

For 2026 we've a beautiful mid-grey melange 'Salt & Pepper Grey' that I'm wearing this year (founder perks).

Why anyone would pick a FRAHM Peacoat over any number of other well known brands?

We designed it to beat all-comers. Not by altering the style. Rather, by getting everything as close to perfection as possible. The peacoat you and I look for, but can never quite find.

Common annoyances:

  • Too heavy to wear all day
  • Collar won't stay in place, if turned upwards
  • Awkward shallow hand pockets at rib height
  • Too short or too long
  • Cheap synthetic blend wool
  • Cheap plastic buttons
  • Thin synthetic lining that's cold to touch
  • No internal pockets
  • Wacky fashion adornments
  • Overt modern branding
  • Narrow range of sizes
  • No cuff adjustment
  • Falls apart

FRAHM solutions:
  • Reduced overall weight via quilting
  • Collar lined underneath with waxed cotton, to stay up
  • Deep hand pockets with wrist natural angle for relaxed arms
  • 'Just right' classic mid-thigh length
  • Pure lambswool from Abraham Moon of Yorkshire
  • Engraved real horn buttons from Courtneys of Gloucestershire
  • Lined with herringbone cotton cashmere
  • Five internal pockets of all kinds
  • No unnecessary adornments - just classic
  • No external branding
  • Eleven sizes from Small to 5XL, even Tall
  • Button cuff adjustment & free sleeve shortening
  • Lifetime investment quality

That's just a glimpse into the intensity of how we approach design, testing & sourcing.

Expensive? Yes. Worth it? That's a judgement of value personal to you.

UPGRADED CLASSIC: WWII NAVAL FORCES WINTER COAT

Originally worn by Dutch sailors in the 1800s, the Peacoat or ‘pijjakker’ became the smart, highly protective coat of Western navies in the 20th century. German u-boat captains even had a leather version, but we don’t talk about that.

It became so beloved due to the use of dense melton wool, which is very water-resistant and temperature regulating (cool when working hard, warm against the sea).

It seems that every jacket brand does a peacoat, but we felt with too many compromises. Sneaky synthetic blends, cheap linings, poor pockets…

Here. we’ve tweaked up the smartness and the toughness. We’ve made it warmer, but not too heavy, by quilting the interior, and added pockets and trims to (quietly) lust after.

PURE ITALIAN WOOL

No synthetic blends here. The best 26oz / 740 gram 100% pure felted melton wool fabric from Lanificio Luigi Zanieri of Florence, Italy.

Why not British melton wool? We found better. That's our bar.

CASHMERE BLEND QUILTING

The inside of a peacoat is NOT an afterthought. We've lined it with brushed cotton cashmere for top tier comfort.

Peacoats can be very heavy. The insulation is lightweight Primaloft, meaning we can drop a bit of weight from the wool exterior, making the jacket more all-day wearable.

7 UNIQUE POCKETS

The pure cotton moleskin pockets are a tweak on the standard. Now add 5 unique pockets inside. These include a zipped chest pocket for a smartphone and even a waxed cotton book pocket with a key retaining carabiner.
