WAXED HOODED FIELD COAT

Our most intricate spring coat.

Ok, we're going DEEP on the Waxed Hooded Field Coat. It's our more intricate and built Spring Summer design.

Prepared to be wowed, if you're into that sort of thing. If you're not, why the heck are you still reading??

Not all field coats are the same. This isn’t the scruffy, beery version.

It’s the refined gentlemanly one: waxed for British weather, built to carry what you need, and cut with clean lines so it looks right at work, weekends, travel, anywhere.

Take care,

Nick

1) What it is (and isn’t)

  • A waxed hooded field coat for changeable weather: dry, drizzly, windy, all in one day.
  • Designed as the antidote to lairy. Clean and smart: straight lines, no flappy gimmicks. Tailored.

2) Outer fabric: Weather, feel, longevity

  • Waxed cotton: from Halley Stevensons of Dundee. Dense enough to keep showers at bay, still very breathable.
  • Handle: structured and tough, softens with wear; develops a quiet patina rather than shouting for attention.
  • Finish: crisp, matte; no plasticky shine.
  • Care: wipes clean, or machine wash. Clear info is embroidered inside.

3) Lining & comfort: Made for layering

  • Light, smooth interior oxford cotton shirting means it slides without fighting you.
  • Skin-contact zones get soft, natural fabrics. Comfortable from day one.
  • Built as a layering shell: wear a tee or shirt in the sun; swap to a knit when it turns colder.

4) Hood: Protection without bulk

  • Detailed hood that sits clean, not ballooned.
  • Structured brim so water runs off in front, not down your face.
  • Peripheral vision so you don't get hit by a truck or errant child.
  • Stainless Steel Adjusters you can use with cold hands for perfect fit.

5) Carry architecture: Field pockets that earn their keep

  • Two large field pockets at hip with bellows for capacity, top-entry envelope style with snaps for storage.
  • Side hand-warmer entries behind those pockets allowing an easy, natural stance when you’re waiting for a train or queuing for coffee.
  • Two secure chest pockets: quick-access for phone, keys, mints.
  • Internal storage: zipped pocket for valuables; flat sleeve sized for papers, notebook, iPad, or travel docs.
  • Pocket bags use tough woven fabrics; wear points reinforced.

6) Cut & movement: Clean lines that actually move

  • Length covers the seat & thighs so you don’t arrive damp.
  • Articulation through shoulder and sleeve shape, not stretch panels, allowing you to lift, reach, carry.
  • Adjustable cuffs with neat clip-corner tabs (won’t curl).
  • Subtle cinches (hem & waist) to tune the silhouette without spoiling the lines.

7) Hardware & build: Quiet obsession

  • Matte gunmetal hardware: no glare, no big show.
  • Front zip with storm guard and positive stainless steel snap closures; easy to use with cold hands.
  • Twin-needle stitching on load paths (AKA everywhere); bar-tacks at pocket corners; clean binding inside so it looks as tidy as it wears.
  • All trims chosen for strength and silence (nothing jangly).

8) Why you’d pick this over anything else

  • It carries like a bag, without you carrying a bag.
  • It keeps its shape and looks smart after a full day out (or a changeable one).
  • It works with everything; equally fine with a tee and jeans. Smart enough, casual enough.
  • It’s calm: no performative outdoors or high fashion look. It quietly does the job better.

9) Where it earns its keep (real life)

  • Work days: laptop + notebook + umbrella + gloves, all in pockets; arrive without a soggy backside.
  • Weekend errands: groceries or a small parcel in the bellows pockets; hands free.
  • Festivals / long days out: layers under, hood up when needed, still looks good in group pix.
  • Travel: passport/phone/boarding pass where you can reach them; hood lays flat when you don’t need it.

10) Fit & sizing

  • 11 sizes for a tailored fit across more body types.
  • Take your usual FRAHM size for room to layer without looking boxy.
  • Not sure? Just ask.
