WHAT IS A DECK JACKET?

This is the style Nick wears most. Here's why.

This is the FRAHM design I wear most. I wore it for a week in Valencia over Christmas, when it was cool but not cold, even a bit sunny (oooo).

That's most British weather (and Spain in Winter).

I own a black and an olive green, usually wearing them with a t-shirt, adding a merino wool hoodie if I have an early morning start.

I can swap to shirt & shoes for meetings.

It makes me look beefy in the right way, it's incredibly tough and weirdly extremely comfortable with it.

It has corduroy lined pockets & cuffs (I have a thing for this).

Below, I'd like to explain why the Heavy Twill Deck Jacket is beloved by many, not just myself.

Sit back, grab a nip of sherry, and enjoy.

WHAT'S A DECK JACKET?

Originally designed for US Navy aircraft carrier crews, the N-1 Deck Jacket had to keep sailors warm and dry in brutal conditions - while still allowing full freedom of movement around equipment that could and would snag lesser coats.

Like all standard-issue military gear, it was built for hard work & smarts. To last under brutal (literally) conditions and save lives.

Only issue? These were mass produced with available materials in WWII. They're barely moved on...

WHY IS A FRAHM THE BEST?

Cue FRAHM - the upgrade brand. Not the high fashion, cheap, faster or well known brand. The quality & detail one.

We take iconic men’s jacket styles and rework them - upgrading materials, fit, and details wherever we can.

The result? Something far tougher, yet quietly luxurious, in 11 sizes, that will last at least a lifetime.

Every detail of the FRAHM Deck Jacket is designed for real life & use, not marketing spin.

The Toughest: Dry-waxed heavy cotton twill from British Millerain is our toughest fabric, yet moulds to the user. I've actually taken knives and tools to my jackets. (I wouldn't recommend this as a serving suggestion). The stainless steel shank buttons add to the 'tank' feel. Nought shall pass.

Comfort: Room to move, breathe, and layer, without feeling bulky. Every fabric and trim, inside and out, each surfacer on skin, is a joy not an annoyance.

Breathable Warmth: Built for intermediate weather, the wind-proof twill is insulated with Primaloft and quilt lined with pure cotton flannel. Not too heavy, just right. All this can be machine washed & hang dried overnight.

Proper Pockets: A FRAHM isn't a FRAHM without pocket obsessiveness. Cord lined hand pockets, chest pockets for tickets and sunglasses, internal zipped chest pocket for phone, a bigger one with a key carabiner.

Tailored Fit: Eleven sizes, not five, because all men are different. Get free sleeve alterations if you'd like. The fabrics and cut mean you can move, with features like shoulder articulation and pleats - you know, the extra stuff that most brands don't bother with.

Special Not Showy: It doesn't shout The Best, it quietly whispers it. If you know jackets, you know.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My best Frahm jacket yet

"Everything about this jacket is spot on. The fabric, the fit, the comfort, the details. I have a couple of other Frahm jackets so I knew to expect something good but this one really is just so right in every way. Love it."

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Best fitting jacket I’ve ever owned

"This is the best fitting jacket I’ve ever owned. The material is clearly hard wearing and is going to last and last. Overall this is the perfect spring/autumn jacket for me - I went for black as it’s easy to match with a smart casual look for either the office commute or about the town of a weekend."
