Blouson Launch Detail

The immense detail that went into creating the Lightweight Blouson Jacket.

Here's an interesting dollop of that immense detail that went into creating the Lightweight Blouson Jacket.

There's shots from our latest photoshoot from Edinburgh, Scotland (with the famous local delicacy, the 'baguette').

Then, some history and my background on what we changed, and why.

Enjoy, or just ignore it all & click on the link below because our website has even more of this stuff on it, and slightly less of me blethering.

Blouson History

Original battledress Blouson jackets were elasticated at the waist by the US military for warmth. Think flight jacket.

This elastication tended to billow the jacket out at the waist, leading to a rather unflattering baggy look for many. Baggy is not a word I want going near FRAHM...

The military style split in the post-war years into two clear styles. The still elasticated Bomber, with a low cut elasticated collar. Or the lighter, smarter Blouson, with a turn down collar and straight-down hem, which allows for more structured tailoring.

Though the 'blouson' term can cover a panoply of differing styles, we jacket designers tend to consider this collared style as the modern classic 'Blouson'.

What's Wrong

There are a thousand blouson jackets out there already. So why FRAHM?

Problem we solve? Simple. The same as always.

Quality. Detail. Comfort. Fit. Service. Longevity.

It's easy to make a blouson. You can buy one on Amazon for a song. It will be garbage, of course.

But how will it look on you? Will the fabric impress, or depress? Will it fit and flatter our inevitable imperfections? Is it carefully tailored in 11 sizes? Can the sleeves be adjusted?

Are the zips generic or custom? Is it lined? Is the lining synthetic, smelly and sticks to you? Or soft, light & luxurious?

SEE THE DIFFERENCE

Upgrades

We don't scrimp. We chose sleek Halley Stephensons pure cotton exterior fabric. A smart, soft Oxford cotton lining.

Details like Oxford lined hand pockets & cuffs, custom YKK stainless steel zips, two internal pockets & a crisp smart turn-down collar (but of course monsieur).

That doesn't even begin to describe the work we have put into this jacket.

We don't reinvent the wheel. We just make that wheel smoother, quieter, more comfortable, tougher, more beautiful...
