I really like the way the tail of the jacket is long enough to keep rain off one's backside, but is cut back up a bit as the line comes forward, just in time to keep easy access to the side pockets of one's trousers. I wouldn't mind seeing this notion repeated in other jackets.
The handwarmer pockets' lining isn't nearly as cozy as in other jackets of yours, but perhaps the intent is to avoid having anything thick in there to soak up water and get soggy.
I expect I'll drop you a further note on this, but: I'd have been really really happy if you'd offered this jacket or something fairly similar executed in Ventile rather than the waxed material.
Wow, another stunner from Frahm, always superb quality , fit and finish, the detail and style are bang on.
I have docked one star for this jacket, because on its first outing, the zip got stuck and I couldn’t take it off,no matter how hard I tried !
Fortunately,a neighbour came to my rescue and she managed to get her hand down the front of the jacket and managed to free the zip, which had caught on the opposite zip placket. The fabric is so tough that I couldn’t tug the zip free.
Still, apart from a red face,no damage done ! I have tried the zip closure several, several times ( jacket off) and can’t replicate the issue, nor can I see how if failed to unzip ! Apart from this mishap,I am delighted with the jacket, particularly the hood and the pocket size, not to mention the gorgeous spearmint green colour. The quality is up to the Frahm customary standard and I like the longer cut ( compared to my original Utility field jacket, plus the brilliant hood design and the waist draw-string ! Once the weather is back to its normal self, I will again don the jacket, making sure that there is a handy friend or neighbour available, just in case there is a repeat performance of said zip !!!!!
I recently purchased the Waxed Hooded Field Coat 2026 Military Green With Tan (my sixth Frahm). The fitting, styling and quality are excellent. Haven't exposed it to the elements yet but have full confidence in the Halley Stevensons water proofing. In essence, this is a superb coat!
looks good, does what it says it will though in my opinion could do with two more inside pockets, one upper right - zipped preferably, one lower left
I'm not new to Frahm. I bought a merino jacket a while back which I love, but Frahm jackets aren't impulse buys and I have plenty of jackets. . .
But I do REALLY like the merino and the deck coat just looked good, so I decided to treat myself. And I'm so glad I did. Its immediately supplanted the Barbour jacket I was using for cooler weather and I vastly prefer the dry wax, which has kept out a few showers already.
At the back of my mind I worried that buying a second Frahm might open the floodgates as I like the look of a couple of other styles. That fear was justified, this is not going to be my last.
They are not cheap, but for someone who doesn't buy clothes that often but wants them to last, wear well, and be practical I find they are in the sweet spot where I feel I am paying for the quality and attention to detail and whilst they are not the economy pick I will be very happy with both jackets long after what I've forgotten what I paid for them.
