Best of Bath Guide

A GENT'S DAY OUT AT OUR FAVOURITE HAUNTS

FRAHM is born & bred in Bath. It's a calmer, less showy place to enjoy the finer things than London.

Founder Nick (the one in green) thought it would be great to show you, and his friends (which is how they came to model for us) a great day out.

A thinking man's day of fine but also simple tastes. A great way for us all to catchup, having created so many laughs & memories together over the years in shoot locations like Valencia, Glen Coe, London, Porto & beyond.

About each of us:

Nick - founder, jacket designer, lives in Bath. Size large, 42" chest, height 5'11".

Pravin - restaurateur & owner of Castle Farm Midford, lives in rural Wiltshire. Size large, 42" chest, height 6'1".

Chris B (long grey hair) - ex music CEO, now climber & surfer, lives in central Bristol. Size medium, chest 38" but prefers a looser fit, height 5'9".

Chris K (short blonde hair) - roof thatcher & cellist, renovated own house in darkest Somerset. Size medium, chest 40", height 5'10".

Beckford Bottle Shop

Tucked just off some of Bath’s prettiest Georgian streets, Beckford Bottle Shop is a joy for the taste obsessed chap.

With over 300 bottles on the shelves and 30+ wines by the glass at the bistro within the shop, Nick was in his element. He is a trained wine merchant, where he specialised in champagne & malt whisky.

Think Paris in Britain. We enjoyed small plates of cured meat, cheeses, venison & anchovies, amongst various treats. Nick & Prav chose an aromatic Gruner Veltliner from Austria. Chris K, a light German Pinot Noir for his venison. Chris B had a Lucky Saint beer.

8 Holland Street Town House

Just off the famous Crescent, facing Victoria Park, 8 Holland Street Town House provided the perfect backdrop for our latest shoot.

We cheekily shot the new Cashmere Field Jacket on Prav, while Chris X 2 and Nick looked at the lovely things (mostly coveting bird paintings) and had coffee next door at The Green Bird Cafe.

Its classic Georgian façade contrasts with the colour & vibrancy of the carefully curated pieces. We all commented how it could have been visual carnage, but instead seemed to all combine perfectly.

We were treated royally. Thank you!

Swoon Gelato

Nick, his wife & kids are all obsessed by gelato, and specifically Swoon, the finest in Bath (and Brizzle). So much so, that they all get Swoon birthday cakes and Nick has started trying to emulate their recipes at home (nearly, but never quite there).

The two Chrises were hesitatant, saying they weren't really ice cream guys. Thankfully Nick bullied them into getting two scoops each.

Chris B got Nick's daughter's favourite, mango and a raspberry sorbetto.

Chris K got Bacio (hazelnut and chocolate) on Nick's insistence.

Prav? Peanut.

Nick - chocolate sorbetto, which he attempts to only eat twice a week, as he passes Swoon every day on the way home from work.

Gelato isn't just for Summer (when the queues can be wild), when it's this transcendent.

THE BLACK FOX PUB

The pub Nick goes to before gigs, or on a Friday night after work.

A cheese wedge shape that's close to but not too close the the action, it has a very creative vibe, with superb local and non-alcoholic beers.

Go downstairs and you may see actors & musicians appearing at the local venues.

Note: Nick was horrified to find that only he is obsessed by crisps, and was forced to eat all the packets he'd bought, without help. A nightmarish scenario he hopes to repeat again soon.

Dough Pizzeria

Chris K was on child rearing duties so he had to go. After wiping our tears back, we then went to stuff our faces (again).

We all fancied some simpler stodge after all the finery, so pizza it was, at Hussey family favourite, Dough.

Run by Italians, it offers bases in all kinds of options like seaweed & turmeric.

We chilled with Angus, Tom & Izzy, who were behind the camera(s) and exchanged shoot stories of old. Burp.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

Places we love but couldn't fit in, for fear of massive bloat or intoxication:

Castle Farm, Midford - Prav's amazing place. The roast is INSANE.

The Dark Horse - Dark (naturally), cool, awesome music, even more awesome cocktails. Nick's escape with the missus from the kids.

Noya's - Vietnamese Restaurant. Nick was lucky enough to be schooled by Noya herself a few years ago, and her recipes appear in his household constantly.

The Packhorse in South Stoke - a 10 minute taxi ride or 3 mile walk up the hill, this is our favourite county pub, famously saved, renovated & run by locals.
