This is my 4th FRAHM, this Peacoat and the overcoat are my star purchases of 2025. Superb quality items.
I researched a lot of shell jackets but it in the end an email saying there was availability for this jacket with the ideal colour and my size and the option to trade in a virtually unused Frahm, made this the obvious choice. I’m so pleased it’s excellent in every way. The soft and flexible material is fantastic and helps it pack down into the hood as well as comfortable to wear. It’s been fantastic in the recent wet weather and all the details you would expect from Frahm are exceptional. This is the best jacket, from you I have, so far!! 6*.
I ordered this coat on a hope and a prayer. After wearing it for a few weeks I can attest it is a coat of finest quality, fit and feels great, and most of all its stylish and warm.
The quality of this coat is superb: fantastic materials, great details, and functionality that’s hard to beat.
A few fit notes that might help others: I’m a slim-to-average build (40" chest, 36" waist, 6'3" tall) and usually have no trouble with off-the-peg clothing, but this one didn’t quite match my shape.
I tried both Medium and Large. The Medium was a bit snug (but acceptable) in the shoulders, yet far too tight in the arms, only a T-shirt would fit underneath. The Large fit comfortably in the shoulders, but the arms were still snug, meaning you have to hold onto long sleeves when putting it on to prevent them rolling up. Not a deal breaker, just a little annoying. The bigger fit issue (for me) is how generously the coat is cut around the chest, and especially the waist relative to the arms and shoulders. From the side, it can make you look like you have a bit of a belly. Tightening the waist adjuster helps, but it leaves long dangling elastic and creates a pronounced hourglass shape, which isn’t my preference, I find straighter lines more flattering. Photos attached for reference.
Another consequence of the wide hem is that it lets cold air flow up into the jacket, compromising warmth somewhat, which is a shame. Perhaps adding an adjustable hem could help block drafts on colder days?
All that said, the jacket is so well made that I’ve kept it anyway. I’m planning to see a tailor to refine the fit and remove some material to prevent uncomfortable bunching when sitting. Once that’s done, I’m hoping it will be the perfect winter coat for me.
Finally, a big thank you to Clive in customer service for the excellent help. I’m now looking for another Frahm that might be a better fit off the peg.
I was a twat and missed the discount, so ended up paying full price. So I was full of trepidation opening the package and seeing my Frahm for the first time. The quality is tangible. It felt special pulling on the jacket, and satisfying zipping it up. The sleeves were oddly the right length! Its so refreshing having a jacket fit and my hands remaining in view when my arms hang by my sides. When everything you’ve ever bought has sleeves built for neanderthals it takes a little getting used to. I love it. 10/10.
A few weeks into owning my second Frahm jacket and the waxed quilted field jacket still has me finding excuses to go outside. I'm still finding tiny design features which show the thought that's gone into its build, and it's so comfy and warm. The only downside is the amount of people who ask me where I got it from so they can get one!
Great quality jacket, extremely comfortable and fits very well. Lovely company.
Whilst the initial appearance is of a quality product I have only worn it on three occasions. The first two just walking to the town and back with the hood removed.
The third occasion was to a rugby match in wet and windy conditions so I refitted the hood. Unfortunately part way through the afternoon one of my friends noticed that the hood was coming unattached as the zip was opening from the wrong end. On returning home I removed the hood with some difficulty. As I was leaving the country for warmer climes the next day I have left the jacket at home and therefore been unable to investigate fully the cause of the problem.
Hi Richard, it'll just be because the male side of the zip wasn't fully seated into the female, when you reattached it. Push it fully in and close, it'll be tickety boo.
Yours, Nick.
Beautiful piece of kit, will be back for another
I've just received my fourth Frahm coat, and while I'm mostly thrilled, I do have one small initial critique.
I was a little disappointed with the packaging; my military coat arrived in a lovely branded box, and for this price point, I think a bit more presentation 'pizzazz' is certainly deserved.
However, the coat itself is fantastic. The material feels genuinely luxurious, and I especially love the superior feel when dipping my hands into the pockets. It is super warm from the minute you put it on—in fact, I've had to wait for colder temperatures as it was too warm to wear recently!
The fit is snug. I opted for a size Large, which is what all my other Frahm coats are. It is currently a little stiff, but I expect it will relax with wear (the only reason I'm holding back a fifth star). I'm not yet sure if I'll manage a super thick jumper underneath, but time will tell. I'm excited for winter to put this to the test!
Really pleased with the quality. This is my second Frahm so I wasn’t really expecting anything less. Yes, they do cost a lot of money and you have to wait a long time for delivery but you won’t be disappointed.
It’s the perfect winter coat/jacket. There’s no need to consider wearing a thin jacket underneath to store your essentials, as the Thermal Field jacket has pockets for everything. They’re a decent size too - it’s almost as if someone spent time designing them for maximum utility rather than style! Actually, the jacket looks pretty good too, thanks to its design, fabric, cut and finish. The clear size guide led me to choose a medium, which is the perfect fit for me. I’ve been wearing it through the recent cold and wet weather, and it’s cosy and dry of course. No regrets!
Ok the 2025 dark green peacoat is absolutely spectacular ...... as advertised, the best jacket I've ever worn. I was disappointed by the fit, very snug despite careful measurement, so I ended up returning it and cannot believe how easy and satisfying the return process was. My exchange was shipped literally as soon as my return was scanned by the shipper, and arrived -- overseas -- a day later.
About that fit -- I like my peacoat to be roomy, to fit over anything I wear, and to allow full range of movement and easy access to all pockets. At true-to-size this one does not do that. I ended up THREE sizes up due to availability and you know what? It is PERFECT! So if you're an ugly obnoxious overweight American like me, order big -- but if you get it wrong don't worry, it'll be right in literally a day or two. Wow!!!
About that coat -- everything Nick says is true. The look, the design, the quality, the materials are all everything id want in a coat. Get yours while you can, or get your 2026 while pre-orders last. You'll be glad you did.
Just ...... wow. A fan and customer for life. Dont change, Nick.
First of all, my Pea Coat was everything advertised and more. As a word of advice, order one size up if you want to wear a sweater underneath. That said, I didn’t. The exchange was fast and painless. Thank you Nick!
My favourite Frahm so far (until I was sent an email earlier today showcasing the new cashmere field jacket, which I’ll probably never get my hands on anyway!).
The forest green insulated field jacket looks the part, is practical with its numerous pockets (I love the feeling of the material inside the side hand warmers), and is weighty but not hefty, which will certainly see me through the Scottish winters (when I don’t need a hood as that’s when my ventile thermal field jacket will come to the fore). The engraved snaps add that extra touch of class.
Only gripe is it is a bit too expensive but then again I didn’t preorder so had to pay full whack and real quality don’t come cheap. Would’ve been 5 stars if I had purchased at the discounted price.
I've been asked for a review but not sure if it makes sense after so short a time.
Has it lived up to expectations? Well, yes. It seems well designed and well made. The detachable hood makes for a better overall look whilst sacrificing some practicality if it starts raining unexpectedly. The cut away side of the hood does give much greater visibility then more common construction.
The fit is very good and allows for layering, but the jacket is warm on its own, where the ability adjust the fit is useful. It's comfortable to wear but is quite heavy. That's something I like because it gives a good drape to the jacket, but I imagine it might not be to the taste of everyone. It is quite long, but that's exactly what I wanted. Again, that might not be something everyone wants.
As for weatherproof, I've not worn it in bad rain, but it is certainly windproof.
Now, for something that is supposed to be a long-term purchase that justifies the very high price, I can't possible comment at this stage. As I said, it seems well made but it hasn't had years of wear. Perhaps I'll review in ten years time.
As a Frahm customer it wasn’t hard to know where to look when deciding I needed a Peacoat. It arrived and looked and felt good. It came out of the wardrobe this week for the cold snap and it’s delivered - spot on!
This jacket just oozes quality from the moment you slip it on. It immediately feels substantial yet a part of you. Then you get that little smile every time you search for a little feature and it's there!! Whether that’s a waist tie, an extra inside pocket, a perfectly shaped hood that you can actually wear and see out of with a wide field of view…the list goes on.
A stormy walk home from the pub last week also proved its warmth and capability shrugging off driving rain. This jacket IS perfect, thanks Nick and FRAHM, you nailed it!
Ventile thermal field jacket
I received this jacket a few days ago and was hoping it would be my perfect jacket, the materials and workmanship are good unfortunately there are flaws in the design which should have been addressed at the initial design stage. Basically it’s a fashion jacket and not built with serious outdoor use in mind. The first fault is the main zip it’s not two way , if you want to access the lower pocket you have to unzip the entire jacket exposing you to the elements likewise accessing your trouser pockets and sitting down you cannot open the bottom of the jacket. Secondly the lower hem is quite wide and has no facility to cinch it in thus allowing cold updraft spindrift etc, there is a waist cord and this should be added to the hem.Thirdly to side hand warmer pockets have no closure system so any items placed in the pockets could easily fall out and they can gap spoiling the look ,zips or a simple popper would suffice . Fixing these simple errors would transform the jacket from a fashion item into a usable outdoor garment. I am currently looking for a tailor to fix these problems unless frahm are willing to carry out the alterations? As I have a few weeks before the returns deadline I’m unsure wherever I will be keeping it or returning it
It’s a shame these simple things spoil what could have been a great jacket
Hi Gary,
These are deliberate & careful design decisions by us, not faults, errors or oversights. We can never design the perfect jacket for each individual taste but images you like it.
This jacket is built to work in many environments for practical everyday use but also smart urban wear, not always but often including serious outdoor use.
Rather than draw cord hem, which would tighten the jacket in an unsightly way around the legs, it is at the waist.
Of the nine pocket choices, 7 are cargo but two are purely hand pockets, with easy gloved access the priority. Thus they don't have closures.
A two way zip was a harder choice, but these can be less reliable and harder to use. Access to the pockets from below via a two way zip would be very difficult as the arm would have to come up the jacket rather than down it. We assume users will use the exterior pockets for such items.
I hope this provides insight into our design decisions.
Yours,
Nick.
But I love it . It's got all the fantastic FRAHM detailing , quality materials , fit etc and like my other Woodland jackets it's going to last for ever but the best bit is that colour . More interesting hue's please Nick .
This is my third Frahm and it’s everything I expected, having ordered it last Winter. Someone commented today that my jacket ‘looked expensive’ and it does, simply through quality and design.
