Forget everything about "we only do jackets" and lightweight insulation, this is a substantial winter coat for use when temperatures hover around 0°C. This may limit its use in southern England to a few weeks a year but you would be well covered for those periods; it reaches to mid thigh so no "bum freezer" here. The heavy guage wool coupled with the quilted insulation layer retains body heat really well.
I got the green version and I'm very pleased with the colour, which is rich and dark. The pockets are well thought out; the exterior hand pockets are extra deep to protect both hands and wrists and the interior pockets cater for most things you might want to carry in a coat. I find the two inside buttons that hold the double breasted section in place a bit difficult but this will likely get easier with use - better that than loose buttons that come off after a while. When fully buttoned and with the collar up you will be kept warm from the nose to just above the knees. I don't think that you will need multiple layers underneath and a scarf unless temperatures plummet well below zero.
I recently received my fourth jacket from Frahm in the form of the midnight blue pea coat. As I have come to expect from the worlds best jacket / coat company the garment is nothing short of exceptional. Another winner from Frahm .

I already have two Frahms, so expectations were high. It hasn’t been cold enough to test outdoors yet, but I keep having to put it on indoors, just to admire how good I look in it. It is as good as Nick says it is and surpassed my expectations as somehow the sizing really does fit ‘real man’ shapes. I’m a robust 5’8” with a 41” chest, so have the large. The double breast wraps flatteringly around the body and somehow the arms are not too long on me. I love the dark green and cannot wait for some proper cold weather.
I recently received my first Frahm jacket. I did a ton of research and was looking for an heirloom quality peacoat jacket. The Frahm peacoat in midnight blue that I received exceeded my expectations. The quality of the materials and workmanship is perfection. I am on the bigger side, 6ft, 220 lbs. the 2xl fits me well with a tailored silhouette. I highly recommend Frahm and will undoubtedly be purchasing additional jackets in the future. If you want the best peacoat on the market than you need to buy the Frahm peacoat.
Really pleased with my new Peacoat from Frahm. This is my third purchase and every item has been nothing but the highest quality both in terms of the manufacture and in the design. Lots of detail and clearly a huge amount of thought has gone into the development of the coat. Very impressive.
