UPGRADED CLASSIC: BRITISH WWI OFFICER'S TRENCH WARFARE RAINCOAT

Long rain jackets were created in the Victorian era for troops standing in open trenches for days. Unpleasantly non-breathable rubberised jackets were improved with the advent of gabardine cotton.

The gabardine trench coat became a status symbol in post-war Britain, and its image moved from grim practicality to greater smartness for the man about town.

It is perhaps the most British of all classic men's coats, and thus we have spent years creating a purely British FRAHM to mirror this. The skills to make this specific piece have never been lost.

We have kept our design simple, to maintain its real-world effectiveness and match to many kinds of outfits and social situations, not just work in a suit. As is traditional, we have left it unhooded, to retain its smartness and style lineage.

BRITISH MATERIALS, MADE IN LONDON

British origin, Lancashire fabric, Yorkshire lining, Gloucestershire buttons, Somerset upgraded design, London manufacture.

This is (apart from the YKK zips and key carabiner) an entirely British enterprise.

The beautiful dual colour laminated navy/beige or beige/navy cotton twill fabric is naturally showerproof, breathable, fast drying and odour resistant. No, it's not waterproof, but it never has been. Breathability & hard wearing practicality were always the priorities. Not much is going to get through this 310g / 11.5oz laminated twill.

MADE FOR USE, NOT JUST LOOKS

There are many great looking trench coats out there. But do they work?
Do they have seven pockets, for hands, phone, keys (attached to secure carabiner), passport, etc?
Could you do pull ups in it? Like actually move...
Will it last a decade? Maybe a lifetime.
Is it water resistant and breathable?
Does it have a zip, for fast use? Is that YKK zip 2-way, so you can sit down and/or ventilate?
Will the buttons stay on, always?
It is over-adorned, requiring 5 minutes of setup before opening the door?

The clipped corner of the hem, so they won't curl. The engraved horn buttons that are triple would & backed, so they stay. The embroidered internal labels. A crisp, exact collar that doesn't flop about. The best possible YKK zips that never break. Pleated shoulders for a tweak more comfort. This is a FRAHM, and we love every aspect of a jacket, but never just for show.

We tailor for men from 5'4" to 6'10" tall.

With chest sizes from 36" to 56".

That means eleven sizes & free sleeve alterations, unique in jacket brands.

Importantly, we take time to tailor exceptional fabrics that drape flatteringly, not suck around the bits you didn't want to accentuate.

We make you look manly, in a "I want to feel good, but not look like I'm trying too hard" way.

WHEN SHOULD I ORDER?

The short answer is always as soon as you can.

We're booking production space and getting fabric made twelve months before they've even been made.

Options gradually run out as we tick down from 12 months ahead to the arrival date.

If you see gaps in the options of colour/size, etc, that's an alarm bell.
