This was a 25th birthday present for my youngest son. Now, my lot usually take the pi$$ out of me for my brighter choices — my own FRAHM Four Seasons in yellow and blue has me looking, apparently, like I’m either heading out with the fishermen or waiting for the next RNLI shout.
That said, these jackets are every bit as capable as the ones used in either of those situations. I’ve tested mine properly — wore it on a fast RIB excursion to Ramsey Island, where sea spray was flying everywhere… except inside my FRAHM. Bone dry, warm, and smugly comfortable.
Back to the Olive Green Shield: my lad is almost 6ft 2", and the Large fits him perfectly. He hasn’t needed it yet (we’ve had a rare run of good weather here in Pembrokeshire), but come autumn, I’m sure he’ll be chuffed to bits.
• Fit: Spot on — practical cut, not restrictive.
• Features: Loads of pockets, and now with two zipped chest pockets so he can stash his phone whichever side he fancies.
• Performance (expected): FRAHM’s reputation for breathability & waterproofing means he’s set up for whatever the Welsh weather throws at him.
A fantastic jacket, smart enough for day-to-day, and rugged enough to trust in the worst of conditions. I can see this being as well-loved as my own “fisherman’s gear”.
