UPGRADED CLASSIC: WWII M-43 US ARMY FIELD JACKET

The iconic M-43 field jacket, standard issue for US Army troops in WWII, was chosen for its versatile comfort in mixed conditions, including rain. It was used as an exterior shell, with layers underneath, in Winter.

However, whilst its pockets were really useful, it wasn't waterproof and the jacket would look really tatty, fast.

To our amazement, we couldn’t find a modern waterproof field jacket. Waterproofs seem narrowly focused on hiking or skiing, without thought for our diverse busy lives, or smartness.

Thus, in 2020 we launched our most versatile style, that can be worn anywhere - smart or muddy, that works and carries.

REALLY TOUGH, ALWAYS SMART

eVent, the kings of waterproof breathability, created this tough, 20,000 rated fabric for us.

The textured matte finish that's impossible to crease, makes it smart for office and low key for long hikes.

REMOVABLE HOOD

Choosing one jacket to cover everything? Get this.

That means we've given it a removable hood, for swish dates and smart board meetings.

The hood itself is highly shock-cord adjustable, and we've even created a channel to hide the half-zip left when it is removed. We think of everything, if we may be so bold.

How many waterproofs have 4 cargo pockets, 2 hand pockets, even an internal one for a book? All sealed with easy, very clunkable magnets?

We tailor for men from 5'4" to 6'10" tall.

With chest sizes from 36" to 56".

That means eleven sizes & free sleeve alterations, unique in jacket brands.

Importantly, we take time to tailor exceptional fabrics that drape flatteringly, not suck around the bits you didn't want to accentuate.

We make you look manly, in a "I want to feel good, but not look like I'm trying too hard" way.

WHEN SHOULD I ORDER?

The short answer is always as soon as you can.

We're booking production space and getting fabric made twelve months before they've even been made.

Options gradually run out as we tick down from 12 months ahead to the arrival date.

If you see gaps in the options of colour/size, etc, that's an alarm bell.

Fits like a waterproof glove

Jacket arrived when promised and (out of the nicely worded packaging) it looked great. On, it looks even better, fitting me like a well-shaped glove. It arrived in one of our rare Sunny Aprils so it hasn’t faced any water to resist yet. But I sense I’ll be perfectly dry when, inevitably, our typical Easter Bank Holiday weather turns up. I’m looking forward to wearing it on many walks/pub visits, holidays etc.

Need some rain!

Given current weather very difficult to review. Looks good, usual Frahm quality. Plenty of pockets. Without standing in the shower can't really attest to just how waterproof it is.

Great Expectations

Firstly, received great professional, personable, and responsive support from the backroom team at Frahm. Early doors, of course, with the jacket but first handling experience very positive. Dispatched with sensible packaging, feels sturdy and wearably comfortable, coupled with a great functional design. Might, though, have to wait a little here in SW Germany, to properly put it through it‘s paces. Der Frühling has arrived early!
