Original Utility Field Jacket 2022: Pre Order

Size Guide
Size & Fit Guide

Our customers rave about our fit, check out the reviews.

FRAHM jackets are cut for real men's bodies and action. We've subtly altered classic tailoring for more movement, for real life. Our jackets do not have a restrictive teenage 'fashion' cut.

HOW TO FIT YOURSELF

Size by your actual body measurements, not copying your size in another brand. Fit can vary wildly between brands and their size may not be ours.

HEIGHT: This is the easy one – measure yourself from the top of your head to your heel. (Sometimes easier to do against a wall we find.)

CHEST: To find out your chest size, take a tape measure and wrap it under your armpits at the fullest part of your chest.

ARM: Measure from the shoulder seam to the bony bit on your wrist (yes, that is the biological term).

measurement guide

Next, compare your measurements with our size chart below to see which Frahm jacket is right for you.

size chart

If you can't measure your chest circumference, the best guide to size is your best fitting existing jacket or suit jacket. Then Live Chat us and we can advise what your size is.

"Tall" sizes are for very tall men, offering exactly the same jacket with significantly longer arms and torso. Don't buy one if you're above average - our standard sizes will fit.

If you have shorter arms, we will happily have your sleeves altered for you when possible (most of the time it is). Please Live Chat or email us to discuss.

      Nick's Design Notes

This was my first ever FRAHM design. I wanted to make a jacket with maximum versatility. The jacket you always grab. I wanted to create a stylish yet tough jacket for everything. From dashing between meetings in rain showers as well as dog trekking from a hilltop pub. I’m very proud.

We’ve innovated a British military classic, the waxed field jacket. We’ve modernised it subtly, making it comfortable for active everyday movement, breathable, odourless, washable, and with loads of storage for versatility and minimal fuss.

There is an exceptional amount of detail here, from the carefully thought-through reinforced pockets, right down to the intricate herringbone care label.

Upgrades for 2022 include: Cotton cashmere blend lining & moleskin lined collar, cuffs & hand pockets.

      READ DETAILED FIELD JACKET BLOG

As the jacket is constructed from machine washable waxed fabric, it will gradually develop a worn look, as with all waxed jackets, but without the oily inconvenience of old school waxed fabrics or a reduction in performance.

The fit is ‘tailored athletic’. Not unrealistically tight, not loose, just right. The vented shoulders have extra space built in and the arms are longer, for real-world movement.

Weather ranges are 2c (room for a thick jumper) to 18c, in high winds or rain showers.

      Colour Notes:

Navy Blue has a pale blue lining

American Tan has a charcoal grey lining

Fisherman Yellow has a Navy Blue lining

Black has a light grey lining

Endor Camo has a charcoal grey lining

      Quality Materials

British Millerain machine washable waxed cotton fabric is surprisingly lightweight, as it isn't laden with sticky wax like old style waxed jackets

Breathable, shower and rain proof, but not fully waterproof

High, jawline stiffened collar with moleskin cotton lining

Cotton cashmere blend lining lining is incredibly soft & odour resistant

Embroidered care info is sewn inside, no flappy care labels

Machine washable, does not need reproofing

      Design Details

Internal YKK zipped chest pocket and internal book pocket

4 front pockets, secured by indestructible hardened stainless steel snaps from Italy

Limited edition embroidered label, detailing which year you own & proving authenticity

Moleskin cotton lined hand pockets behind front cargo pockets

Scalloped, reinforced cuffs with moleskin lining

      Twin needle stitching throughout

      Cut & Fit

The fit is ‘tailored athletic’. Not unrealistically tight, not loose, just right. The vented shoulders have extra space built in and the arms are longer, for real-world movement.

Cut for activity, with extra room in shoulders

      Excellent Jacket

I got this jacket for my 60th birthday and deliberately chose an XL as I wanted room to fit some layers underneath if needed. I'm 5'10'' and a little under 12 stone - the jacket is a generous fit but not excessively so - a Large would have been fine. It is an extremely comfortable and practical jacket - I particularly like the hand pockets. It has been worn in the rain for an hour or so and I can confirm it is waterproof! Overall very happy.

      My favourite so far

Having had a thermal ventile, a Harrington and a lightweight workers jacket, I managed to get myself an original utility but have waited a few months before writing the review.

It’s an absolute belter and of the high quality I’ve come to expect. It’s really versatile, loads of pockets that don’t seem to bulk out. Keeps me dry in most showers, not too warm in summer and keeps me warm on a chilly night. Really classy and I’ve had loads of compliments on it

My favourite so far, now to choose which next

I've decided that yellow is my colour

Excellent customer service and product, fully living up to the offer Mark sets out via Frahm's social channels. Special thanks to Emmalou for arranging the requested alteration to the jacket, which my wife already covets. Next up, ladies range?

      Superb!

Bought the jacket in (for me) a bold yellow after stumbling across Frahm on social media. I’m 6’4”, second row build (6ft 4, 46 chest, 104kg and a hint of Dad Bod) so went XXXL to give room for a chunky knit sweater as also befits my age and fashion sense during an East Coast of USA winter. I’m a “jacketomaniac” and always seeking the Holy Grail, and if a lightweight, dry waxed cotton jacket for Spring, Autumn and maybe warmer Winter days is what you are seeking then stop now and just buy this. Superbly crafted, great fittings, fits well and I particularly like the clever “heat dump” vents as I can sometimes sweat like Boris Johnson in the furnishings department at John Lewis (or a paternity test). Prompt, effective, friendly customer service from Nick and Emmalou, and they make you feel part of a small but appreciative community. I admire their culture and ethos, and the fact they are West Country based swings it for a Dorset raised lad. “Chapeau” Frahm - I’ll be back!

If you’ve made it here don’t go anywhere else

Unlike how quite a lot reviews on here start, I had no hesitation in ordering this jacket online (Khaki size M). I watched the videos and read the about stuff and just bought into this brand almost straight away because you feel the passion and dedication from these guys and I admired that and wanted to support them. Plus I was after a jacket just like this that I can wear to the pub, take the dog for a walk etc plus it had to look the business, be hard wearing and backed up with a warranty that shows confidence in the product. What I didn’t want was another performance jacket that I have so many of already as I’m a bit fed up of looking like a stereo typical outdoors person from the go outdoors catalogue. So, this jacket is superb, I mean that genuinely and just to put this in perspective I own jackets from Belstaff, Barbour, Arcteryx, Fjallraven, Rab, Paramo, Harkila.. I’ve spent way too much on jackets .. some of these are now going on FB marketplace.. I’ve found my ideal jacket .. next I’m going for the parka which will clear a few more jackets from my wardrobe..
