UPGRADED CLASSIC: WW1 OFFICER'S TRENCH WARFARE RAINCOAT

Long rain jackets were created in the Victorian era for troops standing in open trenches for days. Unpleasant rubberised jackets were improved with the advent of gabardine cotton.

The gabardine trench coat became a status symbol in post-war Britain, and its image moved from grim practicality to greater smartness for the man about town.

However, gabardine is not truly waterproof, much to the annoyance of any finely suited city gent caught in a downpour.

Thus, we have created a simple, unbelted trench coat, utilising matte finish eVent waterproof fabric, that actually works. As is traditional, we have left it unhooded, to retain its smartness and style lineage.

ACTUALLY WATERPROOF

Nobody wants to arrive for that big meeting with wet patches on their shirt. We've made waterproofing the priority here, by using eVent (masters of breathability) fabric, rated 20,000 - that's mountaineering standard.

eVent have done us a subtle, matte finish, that's slightly rough to the touch, making it really tough and smart, not shiny.

This is the same fabric used on our Waterproof Utility Field Jacket, if a hood and lots of cargo space are your focus.

CLEAN LINES

Our design is subtly modernised, excluding a belt, as this can be a faff when the rain suddenly comes.

The structured, quietly masculine fabric flows beautifully as you walk, making it a great sunny-day coat too.

DETAILS DETAILS

We created and tested innumerable samples to get it 'just so'.

The large horn buttons are triple wound on for security.

The front placket hides a waterproof zipped phone pocket.

The waterproof zips are YKK Aquaguard.

Even the pockets are just right, not too high, not too low, not too shallow, deep enough. Ahhh.

No problem. No explanation needed. Pre-orders can be cancelled any time. You get 90 days once you've got your FRAHM.

WE DON'T STACK IT HIGH, OR SELL IT CHEAP

Nothing exceptional was ever easy.

Great jackets don't sit on dusty shelves with half price tickets on.

We choose to be slow & expensive, to carefully build an extraordinary reputation for doing what we promised we would.

Our singular concentration on long term reputation, not weekly sales targets, means you get a far better jacket.

WHY PRE-ORDER?

NO DISTRACTIONS

FRAHM is focussed on doing one thing really well - we upgrade classic men's jackets styles. That's it.

We make each design once a year. Each one is spread across the calendar. We're not distracted by the constant pressure to create new fashion ranges every six months.

After we've delivered that year's edition to our customers, we re-launch the next year's edition.

WHEN SHOULD I ORDER?

The short answer is always as soon as you can.

We're booking production space and getting fabric made twelve months before they've even been made.

Options gradually run out as we tick down from 12 months ahead to the arrival date.

If you see gaps in the options of colour/size, etc, that's an alarm bell.

WHY DO I KEEP SEEING 20% OFF?

That 20% discount doesn't mean we're in a Sale. We don't do them. We don't overbuy.

That's the pre-order reward on FRAHM Jackets (but not on collaborations).

You help us, we help you. Fair.

If there's any stock left, or rare returns, they are at full price.

Perfect Trench Coat

This is my fourth Frahm and my current favourite. Great cut, great fit and looks great. Fully waterproof too! Criticism? Two Frahms are Large, two Extra Large. There needs to be a little more consistency.

Fabulous coat!

It's proper waterproof

From London's light drizzle to a proper thundery downpour, water just bounces of this coat.
I'm 5ft 8in and lean wearing a small and it fits perfectly over a suit or jacket and it's really comfy over just a shirt in warmer conditions without ever feeling too hot. It's a really good length too and the zipped, hidden pocket is very handy and the hand pockets are really deep.
The eVent material takes a bit of getting used to as it is very different from the traditional trench coat fabric. I'm guessing it will soften a bit with wear. Personal preference is that the zip is superfluous and I doubt I'll even use it as the buttons are more than sufficient. It's also a bit awkward to zip up.
However, these are just minor and this yet another tour de force from Frahm. If you're after a trench coat and there are any left buy one. Buy it NOW!!!

Premium gear

Without doubt the best jackets I have ever purchased. This is no exception.

Great coat

Love the style, cut and fabric, although haven’t yet had a chance to test it in the rain. Originally bought the large in navy but it was a little too big, even allowing for wearing a suit beneath it (I’m between a M and L generally). Got the medium in green and not only prefer the size, but also the colour, so all worked out well.

Smart, practical, functional, brilliantly detailed

I’ve been considering buying a Frahm jacket for some time but need something smarter/more formal initially, to wear when I’m out and about on business in London and elsewhere. After prevaricating for too long I jumped in and plumped for the waterproof trench-coat in green. And I am so pleased I did. What a really fantastic item of outerwear. The fit, finish and quality, right out of the packaging, are absolutely top-drawer. I put a shirt and jacket on just to try the coat. It fits like a glove and looks superb. I can’t wait to put it through its paces in the real world. With the weather forecast for the next week or so, I suspect I might be waiting a short while at least. But when the inclement weather comes I will be ready!
