FRAHM Jacket Jacket Thermal Military Parka 2024

UPGRADED CLASSIC: 1950s USAF N-3B 'SNORKEL' PARKA

The first parkas were developed by Caribou Inuits, to hunt and survive in freezing Canadian winters. The US Airforce then developed the parka for crews in extreme cold.

The original N-3B had a nylon outer, wool insulation and mouton lining - treated sheepskin, topped off with a fur hood lining. Whilst incredibly warm, they were very heavy and impractical for a wide range of use.

Into the modern era, parkas are mostly a sandwich of synthetic fabrics with down insulation. In our opinion, these choices aren't logical. The exterior fabrics tend to be fragile and cheap. The synthetic lining an afterthought. The down insulation and fur are cruel, hard to care for and degrade.

Instead we've rethought the construction for a far tougher, quietly luxurious and practical jacket. It is beloved by our customers and is unique in the market.

BUILT LIKE A TANK

An antidote to expensive yet fragile shiny plastic parkas that spill their guts at the sight of a rusty nail. Heavy twill dry-waxed (washable) cotton from British Millerain of Rochdale, Here seen with Italian Cobrax B:Lock snaps, used by special forces worldwide, for their precision and bombproof reliability.

STAINLESS STEEL FIREMAN'S CLASPS

Created in the 1960s as an ultra reliable closure that can be used at speed by firefighters with gloved hands, these clasps state the credentials of this style. Nothing is getting through (except maybe a black bear attack, but we don't talk about that).

UNIQUELY DETAILED HOOD

Hoods should be the central point of parka design, not something to tick off. We dispensed with the fur - cruel and annoying, and upgraded the quilting with a pure flannel lining. You can't see anything that isn't right in front of you with a 'snorkel'. We created complete peripheral vision, so you don't have to pull the hood away to see left or right, whilst maintaining coverage with an integrated peak. The hood is adjusted by three shock-cords, via stainless steel barrel adjusters.

CHANGE YOUR MIND?

No problem. No explanation needed. Pre-orders can be cancelled any time. You get 90 days once you've got your FRAHM.

WE DON'T STACK IT HIGH, OR SELL IT CHEAP

Nothing exceptional was ever easy.

Great jackets don't sit on dusty shelves with half price tickets on.

We choose to be slow & expensive, to carefully build an extraordinary reputation for doing what we promised we would.

Our singular concentration on long term reputation, not weekly sales targets, means you get a far better jacket.

WHY PRE-ORDER?

NO DISTRACTIONS

FRAHM is focussed on doing one thing really well - we upgrade classic men's jackets styles. That's it.

We make each design once a year. Each one is spread across the calendar. We're not distracted by the constant pressure to create new fashion ranges every six months.

After we've delivered that year's edition to our customers, we re-launch the next year's edition.

WHEN SHOULD I ORDER?

The short answer is always as soon as you can.

We're booking production space and getting fabric made twelve months before they've even been made.

Options gradually run out as we tick down from 12 months ahead to the arrival date.

If you see gaps in the options of colour/size, etc, that's an alarm bell.

WHY IS EVERYTHING 20% OFF?

That 20% discount doesn't mean we're in a Sale. We don't do them. We don't overbuy! That's your pre-order reward.

You help us, we help you. Fair.

If there's any stock left, or rare returns, they are at full price.

Thermal Military Parker

Seriously good quality. Reminds me of how Belstaff used to be before the quality tumbled.

Delighted !!!

I’ve worn some of the best outer garments, a Monty duffel coat from Gloverall, a Millerain thermal Parka from Baracuta and a Solway from Barbour and my new FRAHM is up there with them. Absolutely impressed with the finish, quality of construction and style and the sizing information is spot on.

Great jacket

Thought about ordering one last year, but didn't get around to it so when the cold weather arrived I thought about ordering one for next year. I liked the idea of the uprated version without the fireman's clasps, but none of next year's colours really work for me, so I bought last year's model in navy, which is brilliant and having experienced them I love the fireman's clasps, a nice retro feature! At a discount too. An excellent jacket with what will now be a vintage look! Thanks.

Me and my TMP - even my Mum likes it!

Ordered on a Saturday afternoon, arrived the next day.... wow! Impressed.
Opened my new TMP.... first impressions?
Weighty, but not too heavy.
Quality is as Nick keeps telling us....proper.
Fit? A lot better than I'd envisaged when ordering online without trying; loving that extra length to the body, it really does feel like I'm properly kitted out when I wear it.
Sleeve length....a tiny bit long for me short arms, but that's how I prefer it, so I'm happy with that.
Even my Mum noticed my new coat; in her 80's, and she commented on how smart, tough and warm it looked. I could only agree with her, so I gave her the full Frahm spiel!
I have delayed writing a review until now because I've not had the opportunity to go out in the rain, until yesterday. A half-hour walk in what I can only describe as driving rain with wind in the mid-40mph's at times told me what I needed to know. It kept me warm and dry throughout. Hood adjusted accordingly and the peak kept the drips off my face....and I could also see to cross roads.
I'm not usually out deliberately in the rain, but a coat this expensive needed testing, and I'm pleased to say it passed with flying colours! I know it's not classed as fully waterproof, but on this occasion there was no rain ingress at all.....and it did come down quite heavily.
Me and my TMP are now inseparable 😁, and it gets worn even if I don't need to wear it where I'm going!

Great quality - add a weight indicator to the Size Guide.

I love the idea behind Frahm - my son died by suicide - so I want to support the business. I am old and fat, so a jacket aimed at active outdoor men was perhaps a mismatch. However, even though I marked the ) option for tummy, the Size Guide confirmed I was an XL so I bought an overstock while the price was reduced. Its a great coat; I would wear it all the time, but first I need to lose my fat gut! My suggestion, offer Ozempic as an option or add a weight indicator to your Size Guide.
