FRAHM Jacket Jacket Thermal Military Parka 2024

UPGRADED CLASSIC: 1950s USAF N-3B 'SNORKEL' PARKA

The first parkas were developed by Caribou Inuits, to hunt and survive in freezing Canadian winters. The US Airforce then developed the parka for crews in extreme cold.

The original N-3B had a nylon outer, wool insulation and mouton lining - treated sheepskin, topped off with a fur hood lining. Whilst incredibly warm, they were very heavy and impractical for a wide range of use.

Into the modern era, parkas are mostly a sandwich of synthetic fabrics with down insulation. In our opinion, these choices aren't logical. The exterior fabrics tend to be fragile and cheap. The synthetic lining an afterthought. The down insulation and fur are cruel, hard to care for and degrade.

Instead we've rethought the construction for a far tougher, quietly luxurious and practical jacket. It is beloved by our customers and is unique in the market.

UNIQUELY DETAILED HOOD

Hoods should be the central point of parka design, not something to tick off. We dispensed with the fur - cruel and annoying, and upgraded the quilting with a pure flannel lining. You can't see anything that isn't right in front of you with a 'snorkel'. We created complete peripheral vision, so you don't have to pull the hood away to see left or right, whilst maintaining coverage with an integrated peak. The hood is adjusted by three shock-cords, via stainless steel barrel adjusters.

PRE-ORDERS ENABLE THE BEST JACKETS

If you know exactly what you're making, all your effort goes into the product, not trying to find ways to sell the excess.

Brands overbuy, then clear their stock in massive sales. Great! Except...

You're buying a cheap jacket, marked expensive so they can discount it and make the same money.

We deliberately don't make enough to meet demand. Every year we run out. Every year we don't run down quality.

Long term reputation, not short term sales targets.

PRE-ORDERS IN DETAIL

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We only make men's jackets. Each classic style is released once a year, at the same time every year.

A year later all the jackets ordered arrive, and we get them out to you with unique certificates of authenticity for that year's edition.

WHEN SHOULD I ORDER?

The short answer is always as soon as you can.

Options run out as we get closer to the arrival date.

We're booking production space and getting fabric made twelve months before they've even been made.

If you see gaps in the options of colour/size, etc, that's an alarm bell.

WHY IS EVERYTHING 20% OFF?

We give you 20% off for pre-ordering. If there's any stock left, or rare returns, they are at full price.

If you're going to pay us in advance and wait, there should be a reward for that. You help us, we help you.

Am I insane ? !!!!!

I have recently received my SECOND Thermal Military Parka in a gorgeous Khaki Sage. I bought one in American Tan a couple years back. These are beautiful coats and the quality is superb. I just could not resist the Khaki sage colour so now I have a choice of two. They aren't cheap as many people state and I'm not loaded either employed as a frozen food delivery driver but most of my spare cash seems to go into buying Frahm jackets, shirts and T shirts although the shirts are now a thing of the past which is a bummer but hey it's Nick's company and jackets are his passion and I have a few more of those on order this coming year. So yes maybe I am insane !!! Ha

Hurrah - Again! [Thermal Military Parka in Sage/Khaki]

Like many, I took a long time before committing to my first Frahm back in 2022/2023 (an OUFJ in Endor camo, absolutely superb) and now, once again, they’ve stepped up to the mark with this superb parka which is everything they say, trust me, believe the hype. It’s an absolute beauty with the attention to detail you’d expect from Frahm but above all it’s a tank of a coat that presciently arrived today, a day when it was -1° and could be put through its paces. Suffice to say, it’s passed with flying colours. All of this is coupled with the exceptional customer service you grow to expect from Frahm. I won’t lie, they’re not cheap jackets or coats but you truly do get VFM and in today’s world that’s very much welcome. Carry on!

American Tan Military Parka 2024

I received my Military Parka and can honestly say that I am totally delighted with the distinctive colour, (American Tan), and both the fit and quality of the garment. The comments from my family when I tried the parka on, were very complimentary and very positive regarding all aspects of the parka.

Having read and researched the information that is available on your website, I can state that the information that you provided is factual and correct in all aspects. I was worried that I may have to change the coat provided, but should have had trusted the information and knowledge provided. The coat fits me exactly to the measurements provided.

Having received the parka just as the colder weather has arrived, I am looking forward to wearing it and am confident that I will be ‘as snug as a bug in a rug’, no matter what the weather I may be facing.

Many thanks for a quality, well designed and professionally thought-out product, that I have no doubt, that it will be used for many years to come.

Regards and Highly recommended!!

Step into winter.

I haven't liked the winter months for years when it came to getting ready to go out. My younger self would brave the elements all year round in whatever I chose to wear without any thought of wearing a coat or jacket. As I got into my late 30s and beyond, I started to appreciate a good coat but it had to look good. Problem is, I spent thousands on one season wonders that would end up looking tired or would get a little cut in somewhere and if you know it's there, it isn't going back on.
When I first saw Nick advertising FRAHM on Facebook, I was curious but very dubious given the platform and my own cynicism. I kept coming back to the Thermal Military Parka though. It grabbed my attention because of the details, the built to last nature and not to mention the free sleeve alteration for my short arms which were often the ruin of many of my jackets.
I took the plunge in early 2021 and it was delivered late in the year, just in time for Christmas with a quick turnaround for the sleeves altering which I was thrilled with.
It was love at first sight. The most expensive thing I've ever bought without first seeing it in the flesh and I want disappointed. The attention to detail is stunning as is every design addition.
Not once in the intervening 3 years (nearly) have I worn it and not had someone comment on how nice it looks and some of those are repeat comments. What's better, is I've yet to see another. I'm grateful that FRAHM seem to be going from strength to strength but even more grateful that their coats are not produced for the high street.
I have since added the now withdrawn Fleece to my collection which also gets comments every time I wear it.

It's been mild this year so far, too mild for my liking as I'm I'm waiting to don the Thermal Military Parka again. I'm almost giddy at the prospect. Sad but true.

If anyone is doubting whether to take the plunge, the selfish part of me is a little happy you are doing so but honestly, you won't regret it!

Robust and substantial

Another great Frahm jacket that I’m looking forward to testing in cold winter weather. This is a big coat and feels it- it’s got lots of room for layers but can be slimmed down with the shock cords to feel snug. Some say it’s stiff and heavy but I think it just feels like it’s made of much much sturdier materials than your average parka. Make no mistake though it’s definitely not a light weight slimline fitted jacket- but nor did I want or expect it to be. There is some technique to easy opening of the fireman’s clasps but I’m now reasonably confident I’ll be able to align them for a quick release, even wearing gloves, rather than having to get my thumb in to release. As usual loads of huge pockets and great build quality. The dry waxed fabric is noticeably thicker and slightly courser than on my Harrington and utility field jacket.
